Thermal transfer labels are printed when heated wax or resin ribbons come into contact with the label surface and melts onto it. The application of heat (via the printer's heated printhead) activates the ink in the ribbon, which is then transferred to the label stock creating a clear, high-resolution image. We have white, flood-coated colors, and metallic thermal transfer labels as well as jewelry labels and tags. Sizes range from as small as 0.25" x 0.31.5" to 6" x 9". We can also make custom thermal transfer labels upon request.

Our industrial rolls have 3-inch cores and come in 8- outside diameters while our desktop rolls usually have 1- or 1.5-inch cores and 4- or 5-inch outside diameters. Our fanfolded labels are fanfolded in a carton for easy use with industrial or desktop printers.

Thermal transfer labels require a thermal transfer ribbon (wax, wax/resin, resin) for proper printing. Label Expert carries compatible ribbons in various colors that work with our labels.

Ribbons come in three main types: wax, wax/resin, and resin. Wax ribbons are most commonly used for general-purpose printing while resin is a better choice for harsh environments. Wax-resin is a combination of both wax and resin ribbons, providing improved durability and superior results over wax ribbons.
